What's funny is that I can see the actual file in our AV software and have attempted to navigate (and found) while in Windows, but you can't touch the files because everything is In Use while the OS is running.

According to a few sites I've read, if you're an active member the files are updated to the newer code that isn't prone to attack while the older versions (like ours) will be flagged. The flagging isn't a false positive, it's actually a real PUA alert as we've never used CompuTrace (Absolute). If it is a false detection it should be a fairly simple matter to make a rule to exclude it (not ideal I know) What AV are you using? We used to use Computrace on all of our computers and I had never seen a false detection. How many others have seen this issue and why is it still a problem when these files and instances have been flagged as far back as 2017 & 2018? I’m starting to think there isn’t going to be a good answer to getting this removed for good from any of our systems.

The PC manufacturer says it’s Not their software, CompuTrace (Absolute) says it’s not them because we don’t have a license with them and it’s t be manufacturer again, then the manufacturer says they want us to pay software support to have a special BIOS written to remove the CompuTrace software from BIOS. I’ve had partial success formatting the EFI partition and having Windows rebuild/rewrite the boot information:īut the process doesn’t always work and I don’t know why. I’ve tried to PE boot yo manually delete the files, but they don’t exist. Here’s t he the thing though, after turning CompuTrace off several machines will still say the offending files are in the EFI Partition. There isn’t a command I can run so it’s the long work of going to each machine and manually turning it off is the only option. So we’ve got a lot of machines that started showing the ComuTrace.A variants and I’ve been slowly getting to the machines to turn it off (permanently) in the BIOS.
